The British Sub Aqua Club is 50 years old!

1953-2003

BSAC is celebrating its 50th anniversary, there are several organised events which will be held throughout the year, to find out more see the BSAC website.

To help celebrate this unique event Bishop Auckland Sub Aqua Club is planning to join in the party!

To make 2003 even more special we are celebrating our own anniversary of 35 years, from our inception in 1968 to 2003 (see our club history page)

Here is a list of activities we have planned to date, to become involved contact a committee member or drop an email to the link below.

  • Perform 50 dives in a day, we are planning to plan dives from RIB's at the Farnes and shore dives at Beadnell by as many club members and guests as possible. The intention is to perform an overall number of 50 dives i.e. 25 members perform two dives, not 50 dives each!  Afterwards we will hold a beach BBQ to celebrate the Anniversaries.

  • Spell out the number 50 in our local pool with 50 members.  We are planning to hold this early in the dive season to publicise BSAC’s anniversary and to make the local public aware of our experience scuba sessions.

  • Fancy dress night with a ‘Golden’ theme to reflect 50 years – golden anniversary of the BSAC. This is still in the planning stages - however the event is date will be our normal October fancy dress night - better start making those costumes!

Do you want to participate in the celebrations or do you have any ideas to our forward.
